One of Florida’s largest fishing tournaments returns to the Riviera Beach Marina Village on June 1 to 2. This is when over 200 boats and nearly 1,000 anglers are expected to compete in the 16th annual Palm Beach County KDW Classic.
“The Classic is the one KDW tournament you can’t afford to miss,” invites Tom ‘Buzz’ Bzura, communications coordinator for the host West Palm Beach Fishing Club (WPBFC). “Even if you’re not fishing, we encourage the public to attend to the Captain’s Meeting, weigh-in, and/or the Awards Dinner Party. It’s an awesome way to spend a weekend this summer while supporting all we do in community for conservation and youth angling. On both nights were playing music and giving away some serious prizes in the raffle. It’s hard to miss the massive tent we set up at Bicentennial Park. Rain or shine, come on down, grab a drink and be a part of the 16th annual KDW Classic.”
The KDW Classic is a family- and friends-oriented event, offering a $34,000 in cash and prizes for adults and kids. Categories include heaviest kingfish, dolphin and wahoo. An additional $30,000 in raffle items and other tournament prizes will be up for grabs.
Tournament proceeds support a variety of local initiatives including educational scholarships, artificial reef construction, mangrove plantings and youth fishing programs produced by the WPBFC’s charitable affiliate, the Palm Beach County Fishing Foundation. www.kdwclassic.com
