Last Tuesday Budget Marine’s Sales Floor Manager Bas de Rooij met with Golden Rock Regatta Vice Chairman, Jelle Hamstra and handed him 3 VHF radios . These would be used for the regatta dinghy service and other ship to shore communications. Jelle Hamstra expressed his appreciation for Budget Marine’s support of this growing event which is sponsored by the Statia Island government, De Wilgen Vastgoed a Dutch property developer and Presidente Beer. In return Budget Marine’s Flags and banners will adorn the regatta committee boats.
Things start hotting up next week with the Presidente welcoming party at the Dinghy Dock in Oyster Pond next Wednesday followed by the Regatta opening dinner at Chesterfields on Thursday night.
The Regatta departs Great Bay 9,00 am Friday Nov. 13th heading for the Marker Buoy outside Marigot from where they pass Blowing Rock on their way to Road Harbour, Anguilla where the days winner will be awarded the St. Rose Trophy at the Beach BBQ in front of Johnno’s. The next day they reverse course up the Anguilla channel to the Tintamarre mark and back to Grand Case St. Martin for a night on the Town. Then it’s of to Statia for a funtastic 2 days racing and partying joining in the Statia Day festivities.
On November 17th the last race will go back to Oyster Pond where the final prize giving is followed by a Lobster buffet at Captain Oliver’s with the party continuing at the Dinghy Dock and in the Piano Bar.
