Two new businesses have recently opened at Nanny Cay Marina further bolstering the range of services available at Tortola’s leading resort and marina: Solé Spa, offering spa and personal care treatments; and Island Roots, a clothing and coffee shop.

Located near the resort hotel, Solé has two treatment rooms for facial and body treatments as well as a secluded alcove for pedicures and manicures. Solé also sells a range of natural, non-animal-tested body- and skincare products derived from marine and botanical ingredients.

Owner of Solé, Julia Hingston, commented on the opening of her second Tortola location: "Having a spa at Nanny Cay is a wonderful opportunity to partner with the on-site businesses to enhance the tourist offering here," she said. "We also have many resident clients who live this side of Tortola who I anticipate will take advantage of the convenient location knowing that they can expect the same treatment and standard of service as in Road Town."

Island Roots, which is in the main plaza, stocks resort staples such as designer brand swimwear, Skecher sandals, hats and t-shirts. In keeping with the origins of the store’s name, works by artists in the BVI and others with Caribbean island roots are also for sale.

The specialty coffees draw in regular clients from local businesses and residents across the island. "I have one lady that comes in from East End for a latté at the weekends," smiles owner, Tina Wong-Bryson. "From the quality, grind and tamping of beans to the frothing of the milk, every element of making the perfect cup is a skill in itself and judging by the reaction of all our customers, it was definitely worth the detail-oriented training that I undertook in Canada!"

Wong-Bryson believes that her store complements existing businesses at Nanny Cay and hopes to add another dimension to the shopping experience for all visitors.

Welcoming the new businesses to Nanny Cay, Cameron McColl, co-owner of the resort and marina, said: "We are constantly striving to improve the services we can offer our hotel and marina guests. Solé Spa and Island Roots meet this goal extremely well. We will continue to encourage complementary businesses to Nanny Cay and continue to invest in the infrastructure to reach our goal as a pre-eminent resort and marina in the Caribbean."

Nanny Cay Resort and Marina is Tortola’s flagship marina. The hotel has forty-two, air-conditioned rooms plus additional townhouse units in Nanny Cay Village. The naturally sheltered, 180-slip marina and boat yard offers comprehensive service and facilities for long and short-term visitors.

Nanny Cay Resort and Marina is the host and presenting sponsor of the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival, the Nanny Cay Nations Cup, the KATS (Kids And The Sea) Swim programme and the KATS Premiers Cup. It is host to ARC Europe and the Caribbean 1500’s Atlantic Cup for the first time this year.
