Windsurfing – All Classes of Winners in the Curacao Regatta

Willemstad.- Last Easter weekend, on 29 and 30 of March, took place the CURACAO REGATTA 2013 on the beautiful coastal waters south of Curacao and the Spanish Waters, organized by “De Stichting Vrienden van de Curacao Regatta”. With a considerable amount of participants, competing in the different classes and categories like Yachts, Catamarans, Sunfishes, Centaurs (short and long keel), Optimists A, B, C, and Windsurfers A, B and C, the event was a complete success and enjoyable spectacle for the public present.

For the windsurfers, the event counted with 22 registered participants divided between the classes of “Windsurfing A” for the advanced windsurfers and ProKids, “Windsurfing B” for the intermediate level, and “Windsurfing C” class for the rookies. The track for the windsurfers A and B was starting and finishing at “Zeeverkenners” rounding the Yerba Islands, with a length of 2.85 nm, and the track for the C class, was also starting and finishing at “Zeeverkenners” but rounding a closer buoy, the “Potvis” at the entrance of Hyatt, with a length of 1.41 nm.

With the strong winds of lent varying between 18 to 20 knots on Friday and between 22 and 26 knots on Saturday, the windsurfers showed their best skills to finish the track the fastest possible, showing a nice spectacle were the competitors were fighting for the first places but where the sportsmanship was always present.

The results for the windsurfers were as Follows: WINDSURFING A CLASS: 1st place Aron Etmon (CUR-2), 2nd place Jean Paul Da Silva De Goes (CUR-914), 3rd Place Richard Richie (CUR- 182). WINDSURFING B CLASS: 1st place Stijn Overwater (CUR-123), 2nd place Ryan Richie (CUR-172), 3rd place Oscar Etmon (CUR-211). WINDSURFING C: 1st place Stefan de Bell, 2nd place Lara Overwater, 3rd place Lucas Van Neutegem.
