Rum, sea salt, fresh fruit and more were among the gifts received by the boats that sailed the inaugural ARC+ Saint Vincent route. Fifteen cruising monohulls and multihulls continued on from Gran Canaria to Cap Verde to the Blue Lagoon Marina in St. Vincent during last fall’s Atlantic Rally for Cruisers. Jeremy Wyatt, director of the UK-based World Cruising Club that runs the ARC and other rallies, dubbed the first-time edition of the ARC+ Saint Vincent route an ‘amazing success’ with plans for a repeat visit in 2019. Wyatt credited Blue Lagoon Marina and Hotel owner, Kelly Glass, for making new route possible.

“We have hosted the ARC+ and now the Viking Explorers rallies at the Blue Lagoon Marina,” says Glass. “We will soon start deepening of the channel into The Canash Bay/Blue Lagoon and likely expansion of the docks upon planning approval, which we are very positive about.”

Glass also owns interests in other marine- and tourism-related businesses in the Southern Caribbean. The Clarke’s Court Boatyard and Marina, in Grenada, has increased its number and type of services available and expansion of the yard’s footprint is underway. The sailor-friendly Bequia Plantation Hotel has its own dock and ice, pastries and other items for sale. The Liming Hotel, also on Bequia, has a dock that can accommodate 40-plus-foot catamarans on calm days, as well as speedboats and dinghies. www.worldcruising.com, www.bluelagoonsvg.com, www.clarkescourtmarina.com; bequiaplantationhotel.com, thelimingbequia.com
