Dominica’s PAYS Expands Mooring Fields and Prepares for 2025 Yachting Festival
The Portsmouth Association of Yacht Security (PAYS) is expanding its mooring offerings across Dominica and gearing up for its annual Yachting Festival, featuring new moorings, exciting races, and luxury accommodations.
Dominica’s reputation as a yachting destination continues to grow, thanks to the Portsmouth Association of Yacht Security (PAYS). Building on the success of its mooring field in Prince Rupert Bay, PAYS is installing over 20 new moorings along the island’s west coast. These additions, paired with exciting updates to the PAYS Dominica Yachting Festival, promise an exceptional experience for visiting cruisers this winter. And with more boats lingering, there is more time to explore ashore — including a trip to the historic Bois Cotlette estate for a true taste of Dominica chocolate.
New Mooring Locations
This year, PAYS is expanding its reach with moorings strategically placed to encourage longer cruiser stays:
- Toucari: 3–4 new moorings north of Portsmouth.
- Prince Rupert Bay: 10 additional moorings in the southern corner near Portsmouth.
- Mero: 10 new moorings forming the Mero Association of Yacht Security (MAYS).
These moorings will provide secure anchorage options for cruisers exploring Dominica’s stunning coastline.
Highlights of the 2025 Yachting Festival
The PAYS Dominica Yachting Festival, formerly Yachtie Appreciation Week, is scheduled for March 22–30, 2025. Key events include:
- Race to Mero: A mid-week sailing race showcasing the new moorings off Mero Beach. The first 10 boats to sign up will receive a commemorative plaque.
- Opening Reception & Final Party: Free for all attendees, with additional socials and discounted tours available.
- New Registration Process: Cruisers can reserve moorings for the week-long event by paying a $100 fee via PayPal on the PAYS website.
