Evolution Sails sponsors the VX One Caribbean Cup 2025, introducing cutting-edge BOTS race technology to STIR and BVISR for enhanced precision and race management.
The VX One Caribbean Cup 2025 has secured a major sponsorship from Evolution Sails, bringing cutting-edge race technology to the event. The two-leg series begins with the St. Thomas International Regatta (STIR) from March 28-30 and concludes with the BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival (BVISR) from April 4-6.
Part of Sailing Inc. in Charleston, South Carolina, Evolution Sails is one of four U.S. franchises of Evolution Sails NZ Ltd., specializing in sailmaking and repairs for both grand prix racers and coastal cruisers.
Evolution Sails’ Commitment to VX One Racing
Greg Fisher, a renowned sailmaker with over 40 years of experience and 25 championship titles, manages the Sailing Inc./Evolution Sails team in Charleston. He is a strong supporter of the VX One Class, stating:

We are proud to sponsor the VX One Florida State Championship in March, including an all-women’s team entry at no charge. For the VX One Caribbean Cup 2025, our sponsorship includes BOTS technology, allowing races to be set up more efficiently in prime sailing conditions across the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.”
BOTS Come to the Caribbean: Cutting-Edge Race Technology
A highlight of Evolution Sails’ sponsorship is the introduction of MarkSetBot robotic buoys (BOTS) to STIR and BVISR. These GPS-controlled, self-propelled race marks revolutionize course-setting precision and eliminate the need for anchor-based buoys and race committee mark boats.

VX One Class: A Growing Global Fleet
Since 2012, over 400 VX One keelboats have been built. The 19-foot, strict one-design boats are sailed by two to three crew members with an optimum weight range of 380 to 550 pounds. The fleet now boasts national associations in:
- USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands
- Australia, Chile, Denmark, and New Zealand
The VX One Class first competed in STIR and BVISR in 2016. For the 2025 edition, 11 VX One boats will participate.
