The St. Maarten Marine Trades Association (SMMTA) is proud to announce the launching of SPOTLIGHT-ST. MAARTEN, a month long event focusing on education, recreation and discounts for boaters, tourists, and locals. The event will kick off this year with live entertainment and fireworks on St. Maarten’s Day, Friday November 11th (11/11/11), and will run through Sunday December 18th, 2011 when the final weekend will be celebrated with private VIP events as well as free concerts open for everyone to attend*.
The SMMTA has designed Spotlight St. Maarten to achieve several goals; namely to highlight unique attributes that have made St. Maarten the marine capital of the Caribbean, provide a learning opportunity for boaters of all levels through structured training seminars hosted by internationally recognized experts, set the stage for FUN to be had by all, and to encourage local St. Maarten residents to get more involved in the marine community.
Leisure events, sporting activities, and training seminars will be scheduled between November 11th and December 17th. The Spotlight St. Maarten calendar will be available on the event’s website – www.spotlightstmaarten.com – where you will also find a complete list of discounts that will be offered throughout the event including discounts at marinas, chandleries, service centers, hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, and more.
Sporting activities during the month will include a sailing regatta, fishing tournament, tennis tournament, golf tournament, and paddle board races. Events will take place mostly on St. Maarten but the SMMTA will also be spotlighting French St. Martin and the surrounding islands of St. Barths, Anguilla and Saba as the beauty and diversity of these destinations is a major part of what makes St. Maarten a truly unique yachting destination.
For more information regarding Spotlight St. Maarten please visit www.spotlightstmaarten.com or e-mail the SMMTA at info@smmta.com.
*The SMMTA will be announcing the internationally recognized artists that will be headlining the concert events on the Spotlight St. Maarten website in the near future.
