Preston Development Company VP of Finance, Thad Moore, announces that Southport Marina was named the 2013 Large Marina of the Year by Marina Dock Age Magazine at the International Marina and Boatyard Conference in Ft. Lauderdale FL.

Marina Dock Age annually recognizes two outstanding US marinas, one small, with fewer than 250 slips, and one large, with 250-plus slips. Southport Marina garnered the 2013 Large Marina of the Year Award based on exemplary business practices, exceptional commitment to customer service, dedication to environmental responsibility, and contributions to the marina industry. Previous winners include marinas located in Hawaii, Colorado, and the state of Washington as well as marinas located along the East Coast.

Moore, who oversees all marina operations, said “We are very proud to be recognized with this significant award. Hank Whitley, our Marina Manager, and his staff deserve a tremendous amount of acknowledgment for their enthusiasm and work ethic.”

“We hold our standards high at Southport Marina, and we work daily to not only achieve our goals but to surpass them,” added Whitley. On hand to accept the Award were Thad Moore, Preston Development Company VP of Finance; Hank Whitley, Southport Marina Manager; and Vanessa Jenkins, Preston Development Company VP.
