If you’re sailing north for the summer, point your bow for the Marlin Bay Yacht Club. Located in Marathon, in the Florida Keys, the marina offers 99 wet slips capable of accommodating boats from 24- to 70-foot LOA for rent by the day, week, month, season or annually. Modern concrete fixed docks are equipped with 30- and 50-amp service, fresh water and Wi-Fi in each slip. Pump out service is available. What’s more, 25 boat lifts (24- and 34-foot) that can accommodate boats for seasonal and annual rentals will soon be available.

“The marina and resort opened in early 2018 and offers a laidback luxury that is uncommon to the Marathon area,” says Kevin Ceneviva, executive vice president. “Our guests have free access to all of the resort’s amenities and services such as the large heated pool with jacuzzi and pool bar, fitness room, sauna and steam room. At the same time, our prices are very comparable to other marinas. I think this is our main advantage. In addition, we recently opened our new pool bar, Latitudes.”

Also on property is a newly remodeled Clubhouse that offers billiards, table shuffleboard and a game room; fish stations; barbeque grills; and the 35-foot waterfront observation tower, where it’s possible to see unbelievable views of Marathon. There are also a number of beautifully-appointed three-story vacation homes for those who’d like to spend some time on land.

“Marathon is a perfect layover destination and has everything a cruiser could want such as good marinas, grocery stores, restaurants, West Marine and Home Depot,” says Ceneviva.

There are many good reasons to stay and play in Marathon for a few days to a week or more too. Anglers and their fishing boats are drawn to Marathon for the variety of fishing grounds.  From the deep blue waters of the Gulf Stream where anglers fish for the ‘big ones’ to the ‘Back Country’ where they bag their limit of snook and redfish. Likewise, for those who like to explore ashore while cruising, nearby to the Marlin Bay Yacht Club marina there’s the spectacular beaches and wildlife at the Bahia Honda & Curry Hammock State Parks, the Florida Keys Country Club Golf Course, and the Crane Point Museum and Nature Center, which boasts nature trails and a bird center. www.marlinbay.com
