GYM-FITNESS CENTER IS OPEN– We actually made our target date of Nov. 1, 2014, for the opening of our combination gym-fitness center.  Locate in our services building adjacent to the marina administration center, the facility includes eight various appliances to work off those extra pounds or build up those abs. There is also a full selection of workout weights.   The facility is just another in a series of amenities being added to the marina for its 2014-15 season.  There is no charge for marina guests to use the center, which is open every day from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.  However, all users re required to sign a waiver of liability at the administration desk.

CONVENIENCE STORE BECOMING A REALITY– ‘Hook’d Up” will be the name of our new convenience store which will be located in the east wing of the marina administration building.   The store is expected to be in at least partial operation by Dec. 1, according to John Hoffman and wife, who will manage the operation.  The store will feature a wide selection of foodstuffs and other items to meet local demand.  They will also be offering a provisioning service whereby a yacht can order via a store checklist and the order will be delivered either the same day or early the following morning.

ULTRA-LOW SULFUR DIESEL has now replaced the previously supplied diesel at our pump, accordin to Wayne Adderley, Marina Fuel Dockmaster.  Sulfur is a natural part of the  cruse oil from which diesel fuel is derived and is one of the key causes of particulates or soot in diesel.  Soot is observed as the noxious black exhaust fumes emitted from diesel engines and a prime contributor to air pollution. Adderley noted.  The new fuel now complies with emission standards of the United States, Japan and Europe.

CATAMARANS? TRIMARANS? WE TAKE MORE CARE OF YOU! – If you’ve been at the marina recently, you may have noticed an increase in numbers of yachts and especially increased numbers of catamaran sailing yachts.  Cat owners are finding Emerald Bay Marina especially hospitable toward these wide-beam sailing machines.  One of the main drawing cards is the fact that Emerald Bay does not hit cat owners with increased charges because of their significantly wider beams.  Many marina charge catamarans one-and-a-half rate increase or more. for being oversize. The same often applies for hauling the vessel for storage or servicing.  Emerald Bay Marina is presently exploring the possibility of developing a yacht shipyard that will include a lift capable of accomodating multihull yachts with beams up to nearly 30feet.  It is believed that the strategic location of the marina on Great Exuma would be a welcome location for wide-beam yachts frequenting the area.  Also under consideration is a high-stack stiorage facility that would accommodate the growing number of smaller power yachts up to 35 feet.
