JAZZ NITE ON THE PIER JUNE 17– The first ever Jazz Nite on the Pier will be held Wednesday, June 17 from 6 p.m. at the Ken Wright Cruise Terminal on the Errol Flynn Marina premises. The programme is being sponsored by the Ocho Rios Jazz Festival in association with the Custos of Portland Parish and the Justices of the Peace Association. The event will benefit those survivors of the disastrous truck crash that recently took many lives on the Rio Grande River, near Port Antonio. Tickets are available at the Errol Flynn Marina offices and from many of the Justices of the Peace throughout the Parish. A donation of $500.00 Jamaican (About $5.50 USD) is being asked at the door.

LITTLE THINGS MEAN A LOT… We’re at a time in history when discretionary money is in very short supply. With that for starters, we recognize that folks will spend their money only at marinas where hospitality is foremost and the customer service borders on the extraordinary. We decided a long time ago that we need to see our self through the eyes of our customers. It’s the little things like seeing how the showers work by testing them ourselves. Our goal is not only meeting the needs of our customers; but exceeding them!

BOOK EXCHANGE ADDED TO WEEKLY PARTY: We now have an added feature at our popular Thursday night Rum Punch Parties : a paperback book exchange. This is a great opportunity for a little camaraderie with our guests from around the world, to sample some suberb Jamaican rum, hear a little music plus bring home a few new book titles. (1 for 1 if you please!)

ERROL FLYNN 100TH ANNIVERSARY JUNE 20 – June 20 will mark the hundredth anniversary of our marina’s namesake: Errol Leslie Thompson Flynn. Flynn was born in Tasmania on June 20, 1909. 2009 will also mark the 50th anniversary of his death: October 9, 1959. Few people are aware that Flynn was actually an accomplished writer and penned several books including: “Beam Ends” in 1937, “Showdown” in 1946 and his most noted: “My Wicked, Wicked Ways” in 1959, the year of his death.

PORT ANTONIO FEATURED IN CARIBBEAN-TRAVEL-LIFE: “Porty,” as we sometimes call our home, is featured in a beautifully illustrated 10 page feature in the magazine’s April edition.

TRANSCARAIBES SET FOR 2010 – We are pleased to announce that the Transcaraibes Rally 2010 will again include Errol Flynn Marina on it’s itinerary. This will be the 11th running of the six-country rally that also includes Guadeloupe, French St. Martin, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba in addition to Jamaica. 2009 was the first year Jamaica was included in the schedule. This year 17 yachts were included in the rally.

46th MARLIN TOURNEY SET SEPT. 26-OCT. 30: 2009 marks the 46th running of the Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament sponsored by the Sir Henry Morgan Angling As sociation. In association with the Marlin event, the 25th Annual Local Canoe Tournament will be held on Sept. 30. Additional details can be found on our marina website: www.errolflynnmarina.com or by writing the tournament organizer, rondq@mail.infochan.com Please note that a 20 per cent entry discount is offered for those registering (and paying) prior to June 30.

“AMBASSADOR’’ PROGRAMME: Earlier this year we initiated our “Unofficial Ambassador Programme” with each marina client as they left Port Antonio. It’s actually pretty simple: we ask every visitor if they were happy with their visit to Port Antonio and Errol Flynn Marina and to take a few brochures along and tell others about us. Thus far no one has turned us down so we figure we must be doing a few things right! Even better, it’s paying off with more and more clients visiting on their yachts. How do we know? Oh yes, we also ask them how they heard about us when they check in!

“HAVE A YEN FOR THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS?” – There’s an excellent opportunity for the right entrepreneur right in the heart of the marina. It’s our 92 seat restaurant, fully furnished (really turnkey!) and available almost immediately. Fully decorated and having one of the best equipped kitchen’s in the Caribbean, it offers a breathtaking view of the both Port Antonio’s West Harbour the Blue and John Crow Mountains. For details contact the marina by email (info@errolflynnmarina.com) . We will reply promptly with complete photos and details. Proposals are now being considered to lease both the Pool Bar and also the combination Delicatessen/Gourmet Shop.
