Annapolis follows its downtown parade with fireworks from a barge at the mouth of Spa Creek, one of the Chesapeake’s biggest spectator-boat gatherings. The display usually goes up at about 9:15 pm. Where to watch: From the water: the barge sits near the mouth of Spa Creek with a 200-yard Coast Guard zone (older city notices described a 1,000-foot keep-out); the Spa Creek Bridge draw has been held closed to boats for the evening (8:30–11 pm in a past notice). Arrive before dark: the harbor, Spa Creek, Back Creek and the Severn approaches get crowded. Ashore: City Dock, the Naval Academy seawall (ID), Eastport street ends.
