Curacao’s marine expansion has taken a leap forward with the recent
opening of the Curacao Marine Services project at Parera.
The island’s first modern, fully-equipped boatyard facility was opened by
Dutch Minister Pechtold and contains a Roodberg/Knijpstra trailer, which eliminates beam
restrictions when handling catamarans, and a second Curacao outlet for Budget
Marine, to complement the flagship store at Caracasbaaieweg.
Facilities include a 40 ton slipway, teak work, paint shop, bottom
treatment and transport to Europe.
Curacao Marine is a superb addition to the existing Opus Marina at
Piscadera
Bay, which has a 70-ton
travelift, helping to establish the island as a must-visit destination for
those on their way to the Pacific.
Furthermore, the Curacao Marine Trades
Association was launched in September. The CMTA represents both
marinas, as well as local repair, engineering and haul out facilities,
boat sales and the marinas at Seru Boca, Curacao
Yacht Club and Sarifundi.
