St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Can’t get out on the water for the 45th USVI Open/Atlantic Blue Marlin Tournament, set for August 4 to 6? No worries! Celebrate the summer marlin fishing season in the Virgin Islands on shore at MarlinFest. A fair, food competition and festival show is some of the fun.

“MarlinFest is a summer attraction for everyone to enjoy,” invites organizer, Jimmy Loveland. “For locals, it’s another excuse to party. For visitors, it will be one of the highlights of their stay.”

MarlinFest kicks off August 5 an Arts & Crafts Fair and Chowder Challenge. This takes place from Noon to 6 p.m. in the upper parking lot at IGY’s American Yacht Harbor Marina in Red Hook. Over 20 local artists and craftsmen will offer their wares for sale. Meanwhile, on the marina’s adjacent Marlin Deck, the islands restaurant and charter yacht chef’s will compete for bragging rights to see who makes the best conch or clam chowder.
