Balmar Releases SG200 Smartphone App

Dead or alive! Boaters can know how their batteries are aging and avoid the dead battery surprise. This is due to a new Smartphone App for the SG200 Battery Monitor. In September, Marysville, WA-headquartered Balmar, LLC, the leading manufacturer of onboard DC charging systems for cruising sail and power boats, announced full production release of this App. Since then, and just in time for the winter Caribbean cruising season, Bluetooth® Gateway units have been available. These units work with both Apple iOS and Google Android devices.

“The SG200 has always been a great battery monitor for long-distance sailors. By keeping track of a battery’s state of health, sailors can know before they go, and make strategic decisions about preemptive battery replacement,” says Chris Witzgall, produce manager. “Of course, the Bluetooth Gateway allows for monitoring and configuration, but it also allows for product improvements to be installed anywhere. The user can simply update the App over a cellular or Wi-Fi connection while in port. They can then update the SG200 while in a remote anchorage without issue and without any outside connectivity.”

The SG200 is Balmar’s revolutionary, award winning, next generation battery monitor; capable of providing both State of Charge and State of Health measurements. www.balmar.net
