“We’ve
got 15 people and 16 legs,” is how ex-military man and
Spirit of Juno crew-member Charley Streather
described his amputee shipmates to Awesome
Caribbean wedding planner Michele Ince.

And what do a
married ex-military amputee and a wedding planner have in common? I hear you
ask . . . read on.

Having
crossed the Atlantic with the Atlantic Rally
for Cruisers (ARC) on the Spirit of Juno,
old Charley decided he’d show Jo, his wife of seven years, how much he
cared for her by reconfirming their wedding vows.

“I met
Charley and the BLESMA (British Limbless Ex-Service Mens
Association) crew whilst they were enjoying the ARC celebrations in the
marina,” said Michele. “The minute he knew I was a wedding planner
he asked me to marry him, I said of course!”

Civil Service
Marriage Officer James Prudent took care of the ceremony in St Lucia Yacht Club
were the vow renewal certificate was signed and witnessed by the crew and
girlfriends—looking at the photograph it must have been some certificate!
