Why go it alone, when a membership can get you so much more. That’s the beauty of Island Global Yachting’s (IGY) Anchor Club. Club membership enables yacht captains or owners to earn points when they stay at one of the 2000-plus berths in 12 of IGY’s destination marinas in the Atlantic, Pacific and Caribbean. These points can be redeemed for luxury goods and travel exclusive services or donated to charity and much more. In addition, companies can sign up to become Anchor Club Strategic Partners and get a front door opportunity to tell yacht captains what is new and exciting in their product and service line.
“Airlines, hotels and other retailers offer their clients rewards for customer loyalty and we recognize that our mega yacht customers choose to stay at IGY locations,” says Tom Mukamal, president of IGY Marinas. “The IGY Anchor Club seeks to reward our clients for their trust and loyalty to our growing network of unique destinations. The Anchor Club’s strategic partner program allows IGY to go beyond a traditional point-accrual and redemption program and offers our customers an entrée to a selected group of strategic partners, like Marsh McLennan, who are leaders in their respective field and can share their expertise in a highly specialized industry as well as offer our Anchor Club members unique products and services.”
Club members can redeem points for rewards in more than a dozen categories of thousands of items each such as the Apple store, books, electronics, jewellery, sporting goods, and toys and hobby items. In addition, points can be donated to international charities such as the American Red Cross, Freedom Waters Foundation and YachtAid Global.
Yacht captains find it’s easy to sign up. They simply fill out the short enrolment form at www.igymarinas.com/anchor-club/welcome/ Then, when a confirmation arrives, they follow the prompt to create a password at a members-exclusive website where they can track points and learn of special offers. Finally, they just book a slip at a participating IGY marina and the points will start adding up.

- Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina, New York
- Newport Yacht Club & Marina, New Jersey

Companies looking to expand within the yacht market will also find it easy to become Anchor Club Strategic Partners.
“Industry professionals began coming to our docks wanting to approach the yachts to tell them about their products and services, so we created a structured multi-level marketing program within the Anchor Club where they can do so,” explains Sarah Bensimon-Arama, marketing and sales manager at IGY Marinas. “Depending on the level at which they join, Anchor Club Strategic Partners not only receive print ads in all of our collateral, we promote them via social media, our website, and through events at the marinas, where they can have face time with our clients. We also send out (very occasional) eblasts to our database for them with their messaging, include them in our newsletters and they are also promoted to clients by our marina staff who recommend our online Preferred Provider Directory to those seeking vessel services.”
Companies that are currently strategic partners are MHG Insurance, Denison Yacht Sales, National Marine Suppliers, International Crew Training (ICT), Yacht Chandlers, Bohlke International Airways, Marsh McLennan and Vessel Vanguard.
