A new Sunday prize-giving puts the celebration immediately after the final races this year, keeping visiting and local crews together through the finish. Sailors will compete in A Racing, B and C Cruising, and Catamaran divisions off the Santo Domingo Yacht Club, in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic. Ashore, a ceremonial sail-past, flag raising and lively Race Village add to the festivities. “Regata Hispanidad is a sporting and cultural bridge, combining competition on the water with friendship, shared history and stronger ties between the Dominican Republic, Spain, Puerto Rico and the wider Caribbean sailing community,” says Alma Taveras, director of WT Events and regatta organizer.
