BoatyBall, the web-based app that revolutionizes mooring reservations in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, has unveiled a redesigned website packed with user-friendly features. The revamped platform aims to streamline the reservation process and introduce exciting new functionalities for boaters and charter companies alike.
Key Features of the Redesigned BoatyBall Website
Simplified Navigation:
A new button at the top of the homepage offers a direct link to the boater’s application, where users can easily reserve and pay for moorings. Setting up an account remains free, ensuring accessibility for all boaters.Enhanced Search Functionality:
An improved search tool makes finding information on available moorings faster and more intuitive.
Charter Booking Auction:
BoatyBall now offers a blind auction feature for last-minute charters, a functionality that gained popularity during beta testing last season. This feature allows charter companies to book vessels that might otherwise sit idle, while users can snag charters at significantly reduced rates.
“We beta-tested this charter function last season, and it was very popular. It helps charter companies book boats that would have remained on the dock and allows our users to book a last-minute charter at a significantly reduced price,” says Ty Atteberry, co-founder of BoatyBall, LLC.
Beta Testing: Innovative Mooring Alarm App
A standout new feature is the upcoming mooring alarm app, designed to enhance safety and convenience. The app will:
- Help boaters locate their reserved mooring.
- Alert them if their vessel drifts outside a designated “safe zone.”
Boaters in the BVI during October and November 2024 are invited to beta test the app. Participants will:
- Provide their email to set up an account.
- Download the app on a phone or tablet with cellular service.
- Use a device left onboard to track location data while syncing other devices for notifications.
“The more data we can capture, the more accurate the ‘safe zone’ will be, and it will eliminate false alarms,” explains Atteberry.
