The Antigua and Barbuda Yachting and Marine Association (ABYMA) has launched a comprehensive Economic Impact Study to better understand the contribution of the yachting sector to Antigua and Barbuda’s economy.
Data collection began during the Antigua Charter Yacht Show in December, allowing researchers to engage a broad cross-section of visiting yachts and marine industry stakeholders.
Measuring the Value of the Marine Industry
“The primary aim of the study is to measure and analyze the economic significance of the yachting industry in Antigua and Barbuda,” said Bobby Reis, vice president of ABYMA.
“This output will empower industry stakeholders not only to comprehend vital economic data but also to leverage this information to enhance future revenue potential.”
The findings are expected to provide valuable insight for industry leaders, policymakers, and tourism officials as they plan for the future of one of the country’s most important economic sectors.
A Comprehensive Look at the Industry
The research will examine both the demand and supply sides of Antigua and Barbuda’s yachting industry.

Researchers will collect data from a broad range of marine visitors, including:

- Sailing yachts
- Racing yachts
- Cruising yachts
- Fishing charter operators

The study will also assess the businesses that support the marine industry, measuring both their:
