Explore The Blue: Grenada Students Discover Marine Careers on World Boating Day
Few lessons are as memorable as seeing marine life beneath your feet. That was the draw for students aboard a glass-bottom boat during World Boating Day 2026, where they also learned about careers in the marine industry.
The inaugural Explore The Blue – Marine Pathways Open Day, held May 29 at Port Louis Marina and Grenada Yacht Club, gave students from schools and colleges across Grenada a firsthand look at the island’s marine industry. Hosted by Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina, GIZ, the Grenada Tourism Authority, and Grenada Yacht Club, the day included boat tours, hands-on demonstrations, and the chance to talk with people working in marinas, boatyards, charter operations, marine services, and chandleries about what they do and how they got there.
Students also toured yachts with NSS Charters, explored Sunsail and Dream Yacht Charter vessels, watched dive equipment demonstrations by Eco Dive, and enjoyed tender rides around the marina.
“We were delighted by the turnout and the positive energy throughout the day. Seeing so many students actively engaging, asking questions and enjoying the experiences on offer was incredibly rewarding. There was so much laughter, learning and genuine curiosity,” says Zara Tremlett, general manager of Port Louis Marina.
The event highlighted the many career paths available in Grenada’s Blue Economy while connecting local youth with the people and businesses shaping the island’s maritime future. cnmarinas.com/marinas/port-louis-marina
