SVG Sailing Week Sets Course for Growth in 2026 with More Racing, Regional Youth, and Island Fun

St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) launched its inaugural SVG Sailing Week, a nine-day celebration of sailing and island culture, in April. Organized by the Tourism Authority and backed by sponsors like Sparrow’s Rum, the event featured Junior Sailing, Local Double-Enders, and International Yachts. It revived the Bequia Easter Regatta and positioned this long-time favorite event as one of two signature series. The second is the Bougainvillea Cup, which launched from mainland St. Vincent and swept competitors south to Canouan and Mayreau.

Looking ahead, SVG Sailing Week 2026 will run from March 29 to April 6, 2026, featuring fresh energy and enhanced offerings such as:

• Expanded Junior Sailing Division. Open to neighboring Caribbean countries for a true regional showcase of young talent.

• More Racing Classes. The International Yacht Division will welcome J80, Classic Yachts, and the return of the Windward Island Sloop Class, alongside J/24 and Surprise classes.

• New Adventure Sports. The introduction of kite surfing competitions will add adrenaline and new audiences to the event.

• Onshore Family Fun. From cultural showcases to kids’ activities, there will be family-friendly events on land so everyone can be part of the action.

• A Grand Lay Day Celebration. At mid-week, participants and visitors can look forward to a spectacular day of festivities, music, food, and relaxation across the islands.
