La Romana, Dominican Republic – The Sailfish Bowl Fishing Tournament is back! From February 6–8, 2025, anglers and sportfishing boats from around the world will gather at Marina Casa de Campo to compete in this prestigious event. Now in its fifth year, the tournament celebrates top-notch fishing, camaraderie, and Dominican hospitality in one of the Caribbean’s most sought-after sportfishing destinations.
What to Expect at the Sailfish Bowl
Target Species
The tournament focuses on catch-and-release for sailfish, with other billfish species—blue marlin, white marlin, and spearfish—eligible. A Game Fish Division includes mahi-mahi, tuna, and wahoo, making it an exciting challenge for all participants.
Tournament Rules & Highlights
- All catch-and-release validations will be video-recorded and judged.
- A weigh-in station will be available for game fish.
- IGFA test line of 30 pounds or less is mandatory.
- Outboard boats are welcome, and participants can depart from other Dominican marinas but must check in at Marina Casa de Campo.
- Awards include recognition for Best Billfish Angler, Game Fish Angler, Boat, Top Lady, Top Youth, and Best Captain.
Qualifying Event
The Sailfish Bowl is a qualifying event for the 2026 Offshore World Championship, adding even more prestige to the competition.
Event Schedule
- Thursday, February 8, 2025: Registration, Captains Meeting, and Kickoff Party at Marina Casa de Campo Yacht Club.
- Friday, February 9, 2025: First Fishing Day, followed by a Tropical Party in the evening.
- Saturday, February 10, 2025: Second Fishing Day, concluding with an Awards Ceremony and Closing Party.
