Offshore racing multihulls now have a new championship title to chase in the Caribbean yacht racing season. The Caribbean Sailing Association (CSA) has announced the launch of the Budget Marine Windies Multihull Trophy, designed to increase multihull participation in the region’s premier regattas and offshore passage events for the 2025 sailing season.

A New Challenge for Offshore Multihulls

“This is going to be amazing, and I invite all my peers to come out and race at more regattas. Let’s see how many multihulls we can get out on the water,” says Guy Chester, owner of the trimaran Ocean Tribute and the visionary behind the Budget Marine Windies Multihull Trophy.

Championship Format

The championship will feature two divisions based on length overall (LOA):

  • Multihulls under 60 feet
  • Multihulls 60 feet and above

To be eligible, multihulls must sail under their own power between regattas and will be automatically entered into the competition. Each competitor’s best five scores will count toward their final standing.

Participating Caribbean Regattas

The Budget Marine Windies Multihull Trophy will include some of the most prestigious races in the Caribbean, such as:

  • Barbados Sailing Week
  • Rum to Spice Race
  • Grenada Sailing Week
  • Caribbean Multihull Challenge
  • Antigua 360°
  • RORC Caribbean 600
  • St. Maarten Heineken Regatta
  • BVI Round Tortola Race

With many more events included, this championship presents a unique opportunity for offshore multihull teams to showcase their racing skills and compete for top honors.
