San Juan, Puerto Rico (June 7, 2013) – Register now! Club Nautico de San Juan’s International Billfish Tournament (IBT) celebrates its 60th edition September 15 to 21, 2013. In honor of this special diamond anniversary, organizers are pleased to present exclusive rates on entry and hotels as well as fantastic prizes in addition to the always spectacular blue marlin fishing. Last year, a record 102 blue marlin were released by 148 anglers from 8 countries fishing aboard 43 boats. No wonder Marlin Magazine named the IBT one of the Top Ten tournaments in the world!

This year international anglers may benefit from a special promotion: pay for two team members and a third member is free! Organizers are also giving two FREE airplane tickets to registered teams on a first-come, first-serve basis, courtesy of sponsors United Airlines and Copa Airlines.

What’s more? Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza hotel is offering tournament participants a special rate of US $135.00 per night, plus state and city taxes. Be sure to book by August 16, 2013. This luxury hotel is located only 3 minutes away, within walking and complimentary shuttle distance to the Club.

Hooked yet? Here’s another reason to register now! The boat that releases more than eight blue marlin during the tournament will win a brand new SMART car, courtesy of Garage Isla Verde!! It is doable in San Juan!!

One of the most welcoming aspects of the IBT is that international anglers need only to fly in and start fishing. Visiting anglers are treated to a spot on one of the Club’s ‘armada’ of over thirty 60-plus-foot fully-equipped air-conditioned sport fishing yachts.

“International anglers receive VIP treatment at our tournament,” invites 60th IBT chairman, Miguel Donato. “Anglers simply need to arrive to the Club each morning, enjoy a complimentary breakfast, head out to their assigned yacht for the day’s fishing and return to the nightly parties. International anglers have the opportunity to rotate to a different boat in the fleet each day, offering a great chance for camaraderie as well as fantastic fishing!”

The IBT is a definitely a ‘must do’ for the best sports anglers in the world. Last year, anglers traveled from South Africa and Scotland to fish. The big draw is ‘Marlin Alley’, a mile-and-a-half deep trench off the north coast of San Juan where blue marlin swim in abundance. Catch-and-release is the rule in this conservation-oriented tournament that calls for anglers to use 30- and 50-pound test line.

Club Nautico de San Juan’s IBT is the longest consecutively held big game fishing tournament in the world.

“Join us!” says Donato. “There are fabulous prizes for men and women anglers, plus a full program for wives and that “significant other.” There’s a traditional “fiesta” that this year will be known as the “Full Moon Diamond Party,” an IGFA Auction and an elegant Awards Banquet. Don’t wait any longer! Register now!”
