2025 RORC Caribbean 600 Wrap-Up: Offshore Racing at Its Best

ANTIGUA, 1 March 2025 – The 16th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 was nothing short of spectacular, attracting 66 boats from 32 countries to compete in the 600-nautical-mile race around 11 Caribbean islands. Known as one of the toughest offshore races, this event once again showcased world-class sailing in perfect trade wind conditions.

Monohull Line Honours: Lucky‘s Stellar Performance

The Juan K 88 Lucky, skippered by Bryon Ehrhart, claimed Monohull Line Honours with a blazing elapsed time of 1 day, 17 hours, 14 minutes, and 12 seconds. Lucky continued its winning streak after setting a new race record in the 2025 RORC Transatlantic Race.

Overall Winner Under IRC: Tschüss 2‘s Triumph

The Volvo 70 Tschüss 2 (USA), co-skippered by Christian Zugel and Johnny Mordaunt, took home the prestigious RORC Caribbean 600 Trophy as the overall winner under IRC. Their victory highlighted exceptional teamwork and resilience.

A Global Celebration of Offshore Racing

The 2025 RORC Caribbean 600 brought together over 600 sailors from six continents, reinforcing its status as a premier offshore race. The event fostered a strong sense of camaraderie, with competitors ranging from elite grand prix racers to passionate Corinthian sailors ticking the race off their bucket list.

At the awards ceremony at Antigua Yacht Club, RORC Commodore Deb Fish highlighted the spirit of the race, giving special recognition to Matic Vrecko, the first-ever Slovenian entry, who sailed solo across the Atlantic before racing with his crew.

“The RORC Caribbean 600 is about teamwork, camaraderie, and making lifelong memories,” Fish commented.

A Unique Offshore Challenge

While not as large as the Rolex Fastnet Race, the RORC Caribbean 600 offers a boutique-style race experience, where volunteers welcome every sailor home—day or night—with cold beers and warm smiles.

Race Director Steve Cole noted:

“This race wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of Antiguan volunteers. The finish line experience is what makes the RORC Caribbean 600 truly special.”

RORC CEO Jeremy Wilton added:

“The 16th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 has been a great success, showcasing challenging conditions and proving its status as one of the classic 600-milers. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026.”
