Wilmington’s riverfront Independence Day show fires over the Cape Fear River beside the Battleship North Carolina. The display usually goes up at 9:00 pm. Where to watch: From the water: the city keeps a boating safety zone with no through traffic around the launch, lasting until 30 minutes after the show; the permanent Coast Guard zone covers the river about 500 yards north of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. Ashore: the Riverwalk and Riverfront Park lawn.
