Savannah Waterfront Independence Day Celebration

Savannah’s biggest waterfront event of the year ends with a 20-minute fireworks show over the river between River Street and Hutchinson Island. The display usually goes up at 9:30 pm. Where to watch: From the water: the Savannah River is a busy ship channel and the Coast Guard has closed the river next to downtown for the show (9–11 pm in 2023); recreational boats should hold well up- or downstream outside the zone. Ashore: River Street (closed to cars from about 6 pm) and the Convention Center lawn on Hutchinson Island.
