The Crescent City Countdown Club’s midnight show over the Mississippi caps New Year’s Eve on the New Orleans riverfront. The display usually goes up at midnight. Where to watch: From the water: the river is closed from mile 93.5 to 96.5 for the hour around midnight; recreational boats should stay well clear of this busy reach. Ashore: both banks from the Riverwalk/Hilton Riverside to Crescent Park, and Woldenberg Park (French Quarter Festivals’ free concert).
