Key West celebrates its tongue-in-cheek 1982 secession with ten days of parties, races and costumed events. The highlight is an evening mock naval battle in the harbor between the ‘Conch Republic’ fleet and the Coast Guard.
- On the water: The Naval Parade and re-enactment of the Great Sea Battle: Conch Republic ‘navy’ boats, tall ships and aircraft stage a comedic fight against the U.S. Coast Guard (the cutter Diligence) in Key West Harbor.
- Where to watch: Free viewing from Mallory Square, Opal Resort & Marina, and Ocean Key Resort’s Sunset Pier.
