The Third Annual Bocas del Toro Regatta will take place on Saturday the 20th of February 2021.  This one day “Fungatta” has been a big success in its first two years.  Last year it drew 32 entries.  There are mono-hull and multi-hull divisions.

The racing featured lively but friendly competition.  Some crews wore very creative costumes to add to the festive feel of the event.  Two laps must be completed around the triangular course, which measures about 5 miles.

Last year the local businesses were extremely generous with their prize donations.  They included airline tickets, free marina stays and restaurant gift certificates.  Every single boat entry received a valuable gift.

Aside from this fun event, the Bocas del Toro archipelago should be on your cruising itinerary.  Many consider it The Undiscovered Caribbean.  There are nine large islands and hundreds of small islas to explore.  Great beaches, surfing and hiking add to the allure.  And the funky little town hosts a slew of crazy tropical bars and restaurants.  For some genuine off-the-beaten-track sailing, you can’t beat Bocas.
