Young Caribbean sailors return to Simpson Bay for the 21st edition and four days of Optimist sailing. Practice races start Thursday morning, followed by championship racing that afternoon through Sunday. “We look forward to welcoming sailors from across the Caribbean for a weekend of competition, fun and camaraderie,” says Sam Peeks, St. Maarten Yacht Club sailing school manager. Optimist Championship, Green and Benjamin fleets offer racing for different ages and experience levels. A Thursday dockside dinner adds to the fun, with prize-giving Sunday afternoon. Charter boats and equipment are available.
