Contango is a beautiful 2019 Beneteau Oceanis 41.1, featuring the highly desirable three-cabin, two-head Shoal Draft configuration. Designed to combine sailing performance, comfort, and ease of handling, the Oceanis 41.1 is an exceptionally versatile cruising yacht for island hopping, extended cruising, and entertaining family and friends.

At 41’ with a generous 13’9″ beam, Contango offers an impressive amount of living space both above and below deck. Her spacious cockpit, twin helm stations, and open transom create an ideal setting for enjoying life on the water. The twin wheels provide excellent visibility and control while leaving the center of the cockpit open for entertaining, dining, and relaxing. The large folding transom also creates an expansive swim platform, making access to the water and dinghy particularly convenient.

The three-cabin, two-head layout provides excellent flexibility for cruising with family or guests. Below deck, the interior is bright and inviting, with large hull windows and overhead hatches providing plenty of natural light. The spacious salon, comfortable cabins, ample storage, and well-appointed galley make the boat equally suited to weekend getaways or extended time aboard.

The Shoal Draft configuration makes Contango particularly well suited to cruising areas where access to shallower anchorages is important, while still providing the stability and performance expected from the Oceanis 41.1. Her balanced design and manageable sail plan make her comfortable to handle, including when sailing short-handed, without sacrificing the enjoyment of being under sail.

Contango is a superb platform for Caribbean cruising, offering the right combination of space, comfort, performance, and practicality. Whether spending the day under sail, relaxing at anchor, or embarking on a longer adventure, she provides the comfortable and capable cruising experience that has made the Beneteau Oceanis one of the most popular sailing yacht lines in the world.

With her desirable three-cabin, two-head layout, Shoal Draft, spacious cockpit, twin helms, folding swim platform, and bright, comfortable interior, Contango is ready for her next adventure.

Accommodation

Stepping down the gently sloping companionway from Contango’s spacious, well-shaded cockpit, you enter a bright, open, and thoughtfully designed interior that makes excellent use of the Oceanis 41.1’s generous beam.

Immediately to starboard is the spacious aft master cabin, featuring a comfortable queen-size berth, abundant storage, and a private en-suite head with a separate shower. The cabin feels open and airy, with excellent natural light and plenty of room for personal belongings, making it a comfortable retreat for extended cruising.

To port is a second generous aft cabin, also benefiting from natural light and extensive storage. The two aft cabins make this three-cabin configuration particularly well suited for cruising with family or guests while maintaining a high level of privacy.

Moving forward, the L-shaped galley is positioned to port and designed for serious cruising and entertaining. It features generous counter space, a large stainless steel sink, a stainless steel two-burner stove, and a refrigerator/freezer with both top and front access. The galley provides ample working space while keeping the cook connected to the salon.

Opposite the galley is the inviting main salon, centered around a large L-shaped settee and generous dining table with comfortable seating for six. Large hull windows and overhead hatches fill the salon with natural light, creating an open, spacious atmosphere for relaxing at anchor or entertaining guests. Beneteau’s Nauta-designed interior maximizes available space, with thoughtfully incorporated storage throughout.

Forward is the private V-berth, offering another comfortable sleeping area with its own en-suite head and shower, along with a large hanging locker. The Oceanis 41.1’s aft-positioned mast allows for additional interior volume, contributing to the spacious feel of the forward cabin.

Owner’s Comments and Boat History

Contango is a former Moorings charter vessel, reportedly used primarily for snorkeling day trips. The swim platform struts and cockpit table hinges have been replaced.

I’ve owned S/V Contango for the past two years, and she’s been an absolute pleasure to own and sail. She’s a beautifully maintained three-cabin, two-head cruiser that has proven to be a great boat for exploring the Caribbean.

Contango came out of the Moorings fleet before I purchased her, and since then I’ve made it a priority to keep her well cared for and ready to go. I’m based in the U.S. and typically make it down to the boat three or four times a year, so while she’s very much an active cruising boat, she’s also been looked after carefully throughout my ownership.

We’ve put some real miles under her keel. She’s been cruised through St. Martin, St. Croix, and the British Virgin Islands, including several bluewater passages. Those trips have given me a pretty good opportunity to see how she performs, not just sitting at the dock, but actually sailing, anchoring, and living aboard.

What I really appreciate about Contango is how comfortable and capable she is without feeling complicated. She has the space for longer stays aboard, enough privacy with three cabins and two heads, and the confidence-inspiring feel you want when you’re heading out for a passage or exploring a new island.

I think she would be an especially good fit for someone who has been thinking about making the jump into Caribbean cruising but wants a boat that already has a proven track record here. She’s ready to go, she’s been well cared for, and, frankly, she’s a boat I’ve really enjoyed owning.
