The Union Island Sailing Club hosted its first sailing regatta on April 7, 2007 at Anchorage Yacht Club beach in Union Island, St. Vincent & the Grenadines. Although there have been many regattas in Union in past years, this is the first one to be sponsored by the Union Island Sailing Club, a non-profit company started several years ago to promote sailing skills that have somehow been lost since the advent of outboard motors.
The two dinghies from Union, Unity and Unity 2 came first and second respectively. Now for Now from Petite Martinique placed 3rd. On the beach during the day the sailing club organized a BBQ lunch, all-day bar, domino games, music and coconut boat races.
Stay tuned for the announcement of next year’s regatta – we hope it will be bigger and better. Thanks go to all who helped to make the day a success.
