Participants in this year’s Highland Spring HIHO windsurfing and stand-up paddle boarding race will have it ‘made in the shade,’ courtesy of the event’s new sponsor, TUUCI – a world leader in umbrella shade design and innovation.

Highland Spring HIHO announces the new partnership in advance of this year’s race, scheduled for the first week of July.   “The TUUCI brand is first class and we’re thrilled to have them on board this year,” says event organizer, Andy Morrell.

The Highland Spring HIHO attracts water sports enthusiasts from around the world. Staying aboard captained catamarans from The Moorings, competitors take part in an ambitious week-long racing event in open water.

“I can tell you from experience, after windsurfing the intense 14-mile race from Virgin Gorda to Anegada, relaxing on the beach has never felt so good,” says Morrell.  He placed first in the HIHO in 1986. “And to think this year, when competitors reach the beach, they’ll be appreciating the shade of a TUUCI parasol.  It doesn’t get any better.”

The inter-island racing is not just for windsurfers anymore.  The event added the increasingly popular stand-up paddle boarding two years ago, and the response has been overwhelming.  “It rounds out the all-inclusive adventure perfectly,” says Morrell.

TUUCI will get in on the SUP action during this year’s event, sponsoring a fun-spirited relay race for paddle boarders, windsurfers, boat captains and crewmembers alike.  “With nightly planned parties, the HIHO folks know how to have a good time and so do we,” says Dougan Clarke, founder and CEO of TUUCI Worldwide, LLC.

In addition to TUUCI, the BVI Tourist Board, The Moorings, Red Stripe and Fanatic are event sponsors this year, with Highland Spring as the title sponsor.  Registration for 2012 Highland Spring HIHO, which runs from July 1 – July 8, 2010 is still open.  Visit www.go-hiho.com for more information.
