In the wake of astonishing devastation to the Bahamas, Palm Beach County locals can now donate by bringing desperately needed relief supplies to Sailfish Marina Resort at 98 Lake Drive, Palm Beach Shores, Florida 33404.

In partnership with Stephen G. Leighton, Deputy Chief of Staff to Congressman Brian Mast, and Operation 300, Sailfish Marina will be a donation site for the Abacos Relief Project.  Beginning Wednesday, September 4, 2019, there will be a semi-trailer at Sailfish Marina ready to receive donations to be transported via private planes and boats, suited and approved for delivery. All items will go to the Bahamas, in particular the ravaged outer islands of Green Turtle Cay, Guana Cay, Hopetown, Man-O-War Cay and Elbow Cay.

To help victims of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas, Sailfish Marina will be accepting items such as toiletries, diapers, clothing, trash bags, tarps, first aid kits, nonperishable foods, flashlights, chainsaws, gloves, extension cords, generators (new in box), water and more.

“We are lucky to have been spared,” said Bryan Cheney, Director of Operations at Sailfish Marina Resort. “Many of us have excess supplies we may have gotten in our preparations. We encourage the community to bring items here so we can make sure they are delivered to the Bahamian people who desperately need them.”

The debris field in the Bahamas stretches approximately 40 miles wide and local boaters should not journey there for safety reasons. The items channeled through Sailfish Marina to the Bahamas will be for short and long term relief. Those who are not located in Florida can donate directly through the Operation 300 Abacos Relief Project fund online at http://op300.org/treasure-coast-abacos-relief-project. Sailfish Marina has served as a donation drop off during Hurricane Irma and past storm relief efforts in partnership with numerous local and national organizations.
