Book now for the 2021 BVI Flotilla
One of the best ways to socially distance is sailing in the Caribbean. Just dreaming of this is why Offshore Sailing school, the Fort Myers, Fl-headquartered company owned and operated by Olympic sailor Steve Colgate and wife Doris, has announced that its 2021 line up of flotillas will include the British Virgin Islands (BVI). While the company currently offers flotillas all over the world – the USA’s Apostle Islands of Lake Superior, Tahiti and the Bahama’s Exumas in 2020 and Belize, Greece and Seychelles also in 2021, the BVI occupy a special place in the Colgate’s hearts as they opened their first base in this British Overseas Territory in 1973.
“Since the Scrub Island Resort, Spa and Marina is our Caribbean base, we have an excellent relationship with the resort management and they prepare a very special dinner and entertainment one night for our BVI flotilla participants,” says Beth Oliver, Offshore’s director of marketing, of some of the highlights. “And we have such extensive local knowledge that we visit ‘hidden gems’ and places that are special to the locals. We have three full-time instructors that reside in the BVI and are part of the fabric of this close-knit island community.”
Two of the company’s long-time leaders, Nate and Heather Atwater, will lead the November 2021 BVI flotilla, which will be sailed on four-cabin/four-head Moorings 48’ monohulls. For more information and to register, visit: www.offshoresailing.com/british-virgin-islands-flotilla-cruise/
