There’s nothing worse than sitting dead still in the water. In February, at the Miami International Boat Show, the Latin America and Caribbean division of Mercury Marine hosted its annual Customer Appreciation Event. Here, dealers were recognized for their excellence in 2019 in not only keeping their customers moving, but also in expanding the overall Mercury brand line through key strategies and commitments. Just a few of the stories show how Mercury Marine, the world’s leading manufacturer of recreational marine propulsion engines, is keeping customers south of its USA headquarters satisfied.

“Part of our plan was to train as many local mechanics as possible, pushing them to attend the courses at the training center. The result is that this now assures there are many capable technicians servicing Mercury engines,” says Carlos Mauleon, at Servicios Internacionales Marinos SA de CV, in Cancun, Mexico, who earned Top Performer of the Year. “Additionally, we held four customer events. Two were for mechanics, one was for captains and crew and the other for Mercury owners.”

South in San Jose, Costa Rica, Manuel Macaya and his team at Productos Nauticos Promarina S.A. attracted new customers by providing them with testimonials from other users who boated under similar conditions.

“We especially worked with those in the area of nautical tourism, for example those who ran whale watching tours, sports fishing trips, parasailing, and charters to mangrove parks, beaches and offshore islands. Documentary videos particularly have been one of our best tools to convince customers to make the switch to Mercury,” says Macaya, who won one of four Technical Service Excellence awards.

Customer service earned A1 Island Marine Supplies, located in Rodney Bay, St. Lucia and operated by Pinkley Francis, another of the Technical Service Excellence awards.

“We are very customer centric. As such, we respond to all customer requests within 24 hours. We also have a wide selection of spare parts and our technicians are well trained on all the product we supply,” says Francis.

The outstanding work that these Mercury dealers performed in 2019 represents our dealers’ commitment to servicing the end-customer from the moment that they walk through the door to make a purchase all the way through their life journey as a Mercury owner,” says Kenia Chalas-Brooklen, sales support and marketing manager for Mercury Marine, Latin America & Caribbean.

Headquartered in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA, Mercury Marine is a major division of the Brunswick Corporation, and provides engines, boats, services and pats for recreational, commercial and government marine applications. www.mercurymarine.com
