HAVE WE GOT AMENITIES? BUT OF COURSE!– When it comes to amenities, Emerald Bay Marina stands out with a long list ranging from the very tiny (video lending library) to the massive (18-hole Par-72 Greg Norman designed golf course), but there‘s still all this other stuff in between that can keep you busy and occupied. Few marinas in the world have as comfortable a crew lounge as Emerald Bay. The lounges (there are several) are capped off with free personal computers, a billiard room, jumbo flat screen TV, exchange books, and free coffee every morning. And…it’s not just plain old coffee, but genuine Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. And yes, we didn’t overlook our Brit friends. There’s a spot of tea as well. This is just the start. In our reception area, you’ll find daily printouts of the day’s weather report and forecast for the coming week. Complimentary copies of all the significant Caribbean marine publications are available for the taking. In case you need to catch up on your laundry, there are four complimentary commercial grade washers and dryers. The really bad news here is that you have to provide your own detergent! Right next to the laundry we have six private room showers and toilets, replete with all sorts of lotions and crèmes to make your salt-sprayed face nice and supple once again. Yes, of course, there’s sunblock too! When you’re ready for a little R&R, you can try out our half-mile long beach. And don’t forget to checkout our in-harbour PADI dive centre. We will soon be expanding the amenities even more as we add a gymnasium, restaurant, kiddie playground, and mini-mart going into 2014. And because of our affiliation with the adjacent Sandals resort, there’s an endless list of special deals offered strictly because you’re a marina guest.

THERE’S NOTHING “FOUL” ABOUT OUR “FOWL CAY” RESORT NEAR STANIEL – Here’s a don’t miss if you are ever in the area of Staniel Cay about 40 miles north of Emerald Bay Marina: It’s Fowl Cay Resort, where you will have the most extraordinary meal you’ve ever experienced. There’s a great anchorage (Big Major Spot) just off the cay where you can dinghy in for a meal extraordinaire. Just one word of caution: be sure to radio in early on VHF 16 the day (or even the day before) you care to dine as this is an ultra-popular stopover with yachts going both north and south. Check it 0ut at www.fowlcay.com, — You won’t be disappointed!!!

“LIKE” US ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE – We are pleased to announce our Facebook page: check out “The Marina at Emerald Bay.” We will of course still be publishing the “Echo” every month and plan to include that on the site; however, more immediate announcements will be published as they happen on the Facebook page. As always, comments and suggestions are both solicited and appreciated.

CHECK OUT OUR NEW WEBSITE – It’s taken awhile, but at last we are there! With the majority of the world now accessing their data and info from mobile devices, the formats of traditional websites just don’t make a lot of sense any longer. We have come up with a completely revamped format that means you no longer have to be tracking from side to side or zooming to view the copy and photos. Kudos to Beranguelly Pagoada, our web mistress, for getting this done! We also have a simplified on-line reservation form. Check out complete details at www.marinaemeraldbay.com And, yes, we invite any feedback from our visitors.

INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP SET SEPT. 21- JOIN US! – Won’t you join us Saturday, Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. at the Emerald Bay Marina’s beach to mark International Coastal Cleanup Day and make an impact toward improving our fragile environment. You never know what sort of treasures you’ll find in the process. In the past we’ve turned up some beautiful sand dollars, fan coral and other samples from the deep. And yes, the trash bags are provided and there’s absolutely no charge to participate. We guarantee that once it’s over you’ll have a special glow about you that only comes from doing something positive for the world we all live in!

ARE WE ON YOU TUBE? Go to www.youtube.com and type in Emerald Bay Marina and you will catch a good glimpse of the facility during the recent Intermarine Group Rally from Florida. The video was produced by the Bahamas Tourism Ministry and features an interview with Dale Westin, marina manager, who discusses the advantages of yachting in the Bahamas and the Exumas in particular.
