It wasnât in the script but it highlights what can happen when things go wrong at sea.
The Silver Queen, a classic 78ft sport fishing boat sank while docking in Marigot, St. Martin in February. The incident occurred when a mooring line was dragged into a propeller with such force that it ripped the shaft strut out of the bottom of the hull causing the boat to immediately take on water. Efforts to stem the flow failed and the
boat sank.
The Silver Queen was acting as a support vessel for a film crew recording the reality show Below Decks. The show follows the daily lives of the crew of a superyacht and is being filmed on various Caribbean islands.
The boat, which is built of wood, was towed to Bobbyâs Mega Yard in Dutch St. Maarten and hauled out. It is not known if the boat will be repaired or declared a total loss.
