Get ready for Discover the Caribbean, A Sailing Festival which will take place in November 2011 at PYFC. "We're celebrating PYFC's rich sailing history as well as having a regatta, and we want everyone to join us in the celebration," according to Joel Santiago, Sailing Director at PYFC. In addition, Discover the Caribbean will include a festival with live music, a fashion show and activities for children and the entire family. PYFC has come a long way since it's beginning in 1938. The club has 168 slips with premium facilities, as noted by champion Peter Holmberg when he recently visited the club to run a Match Race Clinic in July.
PYFC offers free dockage for participants for a week before and after the races and if you come from more than 60 miles away, you receive an extra free week. The regatta series takes place over two weekends, so it provides the perfect opportunity for sailors to visit the club and find out why Ponce is called Puerto Rico's Pearl of the South. Free breakfast and dinner every day of the regatta are included with the boat registration/entry. If that's not enough, every participant in the regatta will receive free cocktails with live music after every racing day, and prizes will be awarded courtesy of the sponsors including Don Q, Medalla and others.
Discover the Caribbean Series (DCS), A Sailing Festival will start this year with a cocktail party on Thursday, October 20 at 6:00 at The Fresh Grill in Hato Rey, on the last day of early registration. It promises to be an exciting regatta and festival, full of surprises for sailors and friends of all ages.
