After nearly four decades at the helm, Robbie Ferron, the founder and former General Manager of Budget Marine St Maarten, is stepping down. He passes on the leadership baton to Jim Hodge, who re-joins the company after a brief hiatus.

The Timing and Reasoning Behind the Transition

Robbie Ferron founded Budget Marine in 1982 and served as its general manager for many years. He cites multiple reasons for his retirement, including the natural factors associated with age. Moreover, Ferron explains that the company has reached a plateau of strong management. “Perhaps the hurricanes of 2017 brought about some unexpected efficiencies,” Ferron muses, “but regardless, the management team is strong and effective, and the timing feels right.”

Despite his step back from the general managerial role, Ferron will remain involved at a regional level, focusing on directorial responsibilities and supporting product research and development. “This shift gives me the opportunity to focus on areas of the business that I truly enjoy,” he added.

What Jim Hodge Brings to the Table

Jim Hodge, once an operational manager at Budget Marine, returns to the company to serve as the General Manager of the St Maarten location. He inherits a well-positioned store that has undergone significant improvements in the last year, including a redesigned retail space, updated replenishment systems, and an all-time high inventory.

Hodge will lead a capable team that boasts extensive experience in all areas required by a modern chandlery and distribution center. “The team and I are committed to building on the solid foundation laid down by Robbie and pushing the envelope to offer our customers an even better shopping experience,” Hodge said.

What’s Next for Budget Marine St Maarten?

Under Jim Hodge’s leadership, the St Maarten store aims to continue its development and improve upon the robust systems already in place. The company plans to expand its offerings and enhance the customer experience, all while upholding the quality and reliability that Budget Marine is known for.
