David Enloe took top honors in both the Open
& Junior divisions in the 2005 Red Stripe Surf Series. Consistent
performances in all four events saw Enloe, from St Thomas, outpoint fellow
Virgin Islands surfers to place in the top three on each occasion that he
competed.

Tortola’s best all-round surfer, J.C. Pierce, finished 2nd
overall on the Open division. A 6th place finish in the January 2nd
contest then led to swapped victories with Enloe in the subsequent events. This
was good enough for Pierce to outpoint fellow Tortola surfer Sean Anderson who
came third. Anderson’s third showed his improvement over the last few years.
“Sean’s surfing improved considerably this season,” noted head judge Mike
Reaves.

Enloe
also took top honors in the Junior division but was pressured by fellow St
Thomas surfer Garett Yarbrough who won two of the four events. Enloe’s wins in
the January 2nd and January 30th events and seconds to Yarbrough’s
wins in the final two events were good enough for his third consecutive Red
Stripe Surf Series Junior title.

Sean
Anderson again figured in the standings to take 2nd with Michael
Brin from St Thomas placing 3rd.

The Grommet division, for competitors under 8 years of age, was
dominated by Tortola surfers. Cameron Walton took wins each time the Grommet
division competed. His friend Trevor Jones finished 2nd while his 6-year-old
sister, Mimi, took 3rd. Erin Anderson took 4th followed by Charley Tarn in 5th
and Henry Pascoe in 6th. The Marvelous Morrell brothers tied with elder brother
Joshua claiming 7th and 5-year-old Sam in 8th. James Nicholas was 9th while St
Thomas shredder Josh Berry finished 10th overall.

The
2005 Red Stripe Surf Series saw five events held in a variety of surf including
awesome 4-6ft Cane Garden Bay conditions. Surfers from the Virgin Islands, St
Maarten, Puerto Rico and the USA entered each contest. A combined 71 surfers
participated in the all the events.

The Series was sponsored by Red Stripe, Highland Spring Natural
Mineral Water, HIHO, Trident Trust, Sea Urchin, Cane Garden Bay Surfboards, the
Caribbean Surf Company, Tool Town & Von Zipper.
