Tortola:  West End Yacht Club invades the east end again

Mike Kirk recommends getting your Saturday night lobster orders in early—the increasingly-popular 9th Annual Dark and Stormy Race to Anegada will start from east end Tortola again this year, with a signup party at De Loose Mongoose in Trellis Bay on Friday, March 9th. On Saturday, the fleet will race to Anegada around those "doggie bits" out there beyond Virgin Gorda, and finish at the entrance to the Anegada Channel, where the party marathon continues at Neptune’s Treasure.  Sunday the 11th is a lay day—the horseshoe competitions are fierce, with many folks coming from St Thomas and Tortola to renew old rivalries on a specially-arranged ferry. With live music, the party continues in the evening. The return race in pursuit format is a downwind sleigh ride to Sopers Hole along Tortola’s North shore, home of the West End YC. The finish at The Jolly Roger Restaurant is always a fascinating thing as the closely grouped boats all beat up the channel.  Contact: Commodore Martin van Houten, 284 4951002
