Getting away for the weekend just got sweeter in the Bahamas. Resorts World Bimini, a 750-acre beachfront resort and casino complex located in Alice Town on North Bimini Island, will open the second phase of its new luxury hotel later this year. This means that in the distance of less than 50 miles from either Ft. Lauderdale or Miami Florida, cruisers can enjoy a get-away weekend with lots to offer. Plus, there’s the opportunity to stay surfside at the world-class marina or turfside in the new luxury hotel.

“The construction of the new 305-room marina hotel means that the Resorts World Property will have even more amenities for guests to enjoy during their stay,” says Heather Krasnow, director of public relations for Resorts World Bimini. “In addition to the six restaurant and bars, world-class casino, two pools, two marinas and outdoor shopping currently on-site, the new marina hotel will offer meeting space, more dining outlets, a full service spa, fitness center and two more pools including one of the largest river pools in the Caribbean in addition to a rooftop pool with in-water VIP tables and expansive views of both the Atlantic Ocean and Bimini Bay.”

Must See Guide to the Bimini Islands

Last year, the Marinas at Resorts World Bimini joined the IGY network as the company’s 12th yachting destination in the Atlantic and Caribbean. The 230-slip marina accommodates vessels up to 180 feet LOA. There’s a soup-to-nuts of amenities here for watersports lovers. Marina guests can rent kayaks and stand up paddleboards to explore the calm waters of the Bimini Lagoon. Snorkelers and scuba divers can launch from here to sightsee submarine reefs and wrecks as well as the mysterious Bimini Road rock formation. This double lane of large rocks has attracted the interest of famed French undersea explorer, Jacques Cousteau, since the structure supposedly leads to the legendary ‘lost’ city of Atlantis. There’s a bait and tackle shop where anglers can rig up with everything they need to bonefish on the island’s flats or troll for billfish offshore in the same waters Ernest Hemingway did back in the mid- to late-1930s.

The proximity to South Florida means that Resorts World Bimini is the perfect place to work and play.

“With 13,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting space and a grand ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows just steps from the marina, the new hotel is the perfect location for marina groups and businesses to conduct their conferences,” Krasnow invites.

Hard Choice: Fabric or Solid Bimini?

Bimini is comprised of a trio of islands – North, South and East Bimini – all located in the westernmost Bahamas. These beautiful tropical islands have attracted a slew of interesting folks over the centuries from pirates and rum-runners to politicians, sports celebrities, movie stars and even royalty. Today, its close proximity to the U.S. mainland makes it popular with sailors, powerboaters and megayacht owners and crews alike.
