The rain cleared for
the sailors in the Annual Virgin Queen Pizza Pursuit Race on Saturday 21 May,
held by the Royal BVI Yacht Club. Racing around a new course from Road Harbour to Brandywine
Bay via Nanny Cay, the wind decided to co-operate and provide some fun sailing.
With several of the participants suffering from a wedding party the night
before, nearly everyone made their start time although one boat did decide to
give itself an extra time penalty!

All the sailing is run by volunteers and
Guy Eldridge kindly gave up his day’s sailing to run the race committee. First
across the line was Andrew Thompson in the Melges 24 Crew Clothing,
followed by Keith Keen in the IC24 Black Pearl and Ron Gurney in Capri
25 TISWAS. Special mention goes to John and Nancy Welch who kindly took
the RBVIYC staff as crew and Vic Hartlen who sailed a great race in his Squib.

Ed Stroh from the Virgin Queen handed out
the prizes after a wonderful pizza lunch on the beach at Brandywine Bay.
