GET QUALIFIED AT OUR MARINA DIVE CENTRE – Emerald Bay Marina offers diving lessons at 9 a.m. every day except Sunday. According to Dive Master/Manager Lennox Trusty, the course includes a 20 minute video plus a lecture by the dive instructor. This is followed by a practical demonstration in the marina’s special dive training pool based on the basic skills of the student. Trusty notes that the “skills and learning speed of each student will vary. One doesn’t have to be the greatest swimmer, but you have to have some kind of aquatic ability, such as the ability to float” Among the topics also covered are diving physics, what you will see underwater and what you should not touch or do underwater, diving equipment usage, skills needed for diving plus hand signals. Students are required to fill out a medical questionnaire. In the event any of the questions are answered with a “yes” a doctor’s clearance to participate is required. The dive centre is located just to the east of the main marina building and is open every day except Sunday.

UPGRADING OUR FUEL SERVICE FACILITY – As the principal waterfront marine fuels supplier on Great Exuma, we are well aware of the importance of offering clean low sulphur fuels to our yacht clients in a timely manner. To provide continued service to the marine community, we are undergoing an exhaustive overhaul of our entire fuel supply facility. Our 90,000 gallon dockside diesel capacity is unequalled anywhere in the area. This supply is further enhanced by an additional 25,000 gallon tank for gasoline. The fuel “farm” facility is getting a new catwalk and steps, plus all tanks will be reconditioned, repainted, and thoroughly cleaned. The project is expected to be completed by early October.
