Not many people would turn down a chance to win up to $350 in drink tickets. That is just what one lucky skipper, who has pre-registered his boat for BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival can win. All boats registered before 4PM on Friday, March 26, will be entered in a drawing with the prize being their registration fee refunded in drink tickets redeemable at the Regatta Village bar and a bonus Mount Gay hat. Those who miss that Friday 4PM deadline won’t have a chance to win lots of drink tickets but they still can register on line for the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival, March 29 – April 4, and on site at Nanny Cay starting at 12PM on Monday, March 29.

When asked why regatta director Judy Petz said, “We just wanted an opportunity to recognize those people who get their act together and register early. The registration process is simplified and we are more efficient when boats are pre-registered. We want those that pre-register know that we appreciate them in a big way.”

In addition, for all visiting yachtsmen, BVI Immigration and Customs will be available on site at Nanny Cay Marina and Resort on both Monday and Thursday afternoons from 12 – 6PM to check crews and boats in and to issue Cruising Permits. Wade Smith, Comptroller of BVI Customs, said "BVI Customs and Immigration are trying to facilitate the regatta in its 39th year and do whatever we can to help make it an easy clearing proceedure. We wish all boaters, visitor and participants a very safe and enjoyable BVI Spring Regatta."

As if it’s not enough to be welcomed by government officials, starting Thursday, April 1 and throughout the weekend, Heineken will be offering specials as part of their new Heineken Light Beer launch. As an added bonus, the Heineken girls will be at the Regatta Village on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Following registration on Monday, the BVI Sailing Festival begins on Tuesday, March 30, with the Bitter End Cup. Layday at Bitter End is Wednesday, March 31 and the Nanny Cay Cup is Thursday, April 1. After that, it is balls to walls racing with the BVI Spring Regatta, April 2- 4, with approximately 150 boats racing on three different race courses in the Sir Francis Drake Channel and with party central being the Regatta Village at Nanny Cay Marina and Resort.
