GlassTech Corporation in Miami, Florida, has just taken delivery of a Marine Travelift TM40 boat transporter, which is providing a huge boost to its service and repair business while complimenting its existing Marine Travelift 100 BFM.

GlassTech’s owner, Nelson Fernandez Jr., explains: “With the boat hoist and transporter working in tandem, we are able to accommodate more boats at our facility.  The transporter has a narrower profile and is therefore able to position boats much closer together.  Before we acquired the TM40 we could only take about 25 boats – this has now increased to at least 35 vessels, which will have a dramatic long-term effect on our turn-over and profitability.”

Another unexpected benefit of having the transporter became apparent when boats were moved into the canvas covered service section.  Obviously, as the transporter is much smaller than the boat hoist, it is able to carry boats into the repair area with the minimum of effort, eliminating the need to remove any of the canvas or its supporting structure.

Marine Travelift’s dealer, W E Johnson, was able to able to advise GlassTech on the capabilities of the TM40, as well as demonstrate the advantages the transporter would give to its business operations.  Mike Marchese comments: “After discussions with the customer, it was apparent that GlassTech would benefit operationally from the addition of a transporter.  The business did not require anything greater than 40 ton carrying capacity so this TM40 was pretty much a standard machine; we didn’t even have to request any special modifications.  The TM40 has significantly increased the storage available at GlassTech.”
